Swimming superstar and Olympic gold medallist, Cameron McEvoy, whose scientific approach to winning has led to him being nicknamed “The Professor”, is the keynote speaker at the Startup to Scaleup (S2S) Summit for tech startups in Sydney on September 26.

The 4-time Olympian, now the world’s fastest swimmer after winning gold in the 50m freestyle at the Paris 2024 Olympics, revolutionised swimming training to achieve his goal.

Tank Stream Labs CEO Brad Delamare described McEvoy’s journey as a masterclass in resilience and innovation – qualities every startup and scaleup needs to thrive.

“After setbacks in his career, including a shocking finish in the 2016 Olympics and considering leaving the sport altogether after Tokyo 2020, Cameron pivoted in a way that resonates deeply with the entrepreneurial spirit,” he said.

“By radically changing his training approach, he defied traditional methods and returned to the pool stronger than ever, ultimately becoming the World Champion at 29 and an Olympic Champion at 30.”

The S2S Summit is on at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) in Sydney on September 26. Tickets are on sale here.

Delamare said several new influential speakers have joined the event (see below), but The Professor brings something special to the occasion has the world’s best.

“His story isn’t just about winning; it’s about adapting, pivoting, and using every challenge as an opportunity to innovate – principles that are at the core of every successful business journey,” he said.
